Abstract

This article examines the mechanisms of consumer lending by U.S. commercial banks, including revolving and
non-revolving credit instruments, as well as modern approaches to optimizing the lending process. The study analyzes the
dynamics of the consumer credit market, the impact of interest rates and macroeconomic factors on lending volumes, and
the role of consumer credit in household financial behavior. Particular attention is paid to creditworthiness assessment
through scoring systems, the functioning of credit bureaus, and the use of digital technologies to mitigate credit risk.
Based on the U.S. experience, key challenges in consumer lending are identified, and practical recommendations for
improving credit risk management and sustainable lending practices are proposed
