The article analyzes the scientific and practical aspects of applying modern reclamation and GIS
technologies to saline soils in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The causes, scale, and consequences of soil
salinization are described, while the impact of drip and subsurface irrigation on soil properties is evaluated.
In addition, the possibilities of using geographic information systems for salinity monitoring are outlined. The
article also substantiates state programs aimed at developing reclamation activities in Uzbekistan and identifies
priority directions for Karakalpakstan.
