Abstract

This article presents an analysis of factors influencing mutual trade between the Republic of Uzbekistan and
the CIS countries in 2017–2023. The methodological framework is based on gravity modeling of trade flows using three
specifications: pooled OLS, fixed-effects (FE), and random-effects (RE) models. The Hausman test validates the adequacy
of the random-effects model for interpreting the impact of various factors on mutual trade. Gravity modeling revealed
quantitative effects of several key factors affecting trade interactions, including the effects of a country's membership
in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the presence of a common border, non-tariff barriers, transport infrastructure,
Western economic sanctions against Russia, the COVID-19 pandemic, and FDI inflows
