A METHODOLOGY FOR ESTIMATING UNBILLED REVENUE AT THE REPORTING DATE FROM AUTOMATED METERING DATA IN AN ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANY

The article studies the estimation of unbilled revenue at the reporting date from automated metering (ASKUE) data in an electricity distribution company. Current documents set three bases for such consumption and neither convert volume into value by tariff tiers nor test estimation error. The author proposes a methodology: the settlement estimate is separated from the accounting estimate; volume is estimated from the meter’s own history and same-day consumption of similar customers; value follows the increment of the tariff function; error is controlled monthly by segment. In a retrospective open-data test, volume MAPE fell from 7.3–10.4% (current approach) to 1.8–2.2%, with seasonal bias below 1.5%.Keywords
