OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPORT SUBSTITUTION AND EXPANSION OF LOCAL PRODUCTION COOPERATION IN THE RAILWAY ENGINEERING INDUSTRY

The article assesses opportunities for import substitution and the expansion of local production cooperation in Uzbekistan’s railway engineering industry. Based on official data, the indicative value of rolling stock renewal programmes and its distribution between domestic production and imports are determined, annual demand for key freight wagon components is calculated, and the domestic production base is described. A matrix of import substitution opportunities across component groups and rolling stock segments is developed, and cooperation models and implementation instruments are proposed.Keywords
